What is the ASTuTE Trial?
The ASTuTE trial is a research study available at specific Australian sites.
Recruiting men with intermediate risk prostate cancer, the ASTuTE clinical trial is seeking to investigate how a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) test affects doctors’ treatment recommendations for hormone therapy in conjunction with radiation therapy.
The purpose of the study is to investigate whether doctors’ recommendations for hormone therapy are affected by this new AI test, which is intended to predict the suitability of that therapy. Participants will discuss the results of the test directly with their radiation oncologist.
The study will involve the collection of de-identified information for each participant including tumour type, the treatment recommendations of their doctor, the results of the AI test and for some patients, follow-up information about their health and cancer after 5 years.
The AI test being used in the trial has not been approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in Australia.
What does participation involve?
Study participants will be required to:
- Agree to supply a previously collected tumour sample to conduct the AI test (no additional procedures required.)
- Agree to share their de-identified information with the investigators, including tumour type, the treatment recommendations of their doctor, the results of the AI test and for some participants, follow-up information about their health and cancer after 5 years.
If you believe you are eligible to participate in the ASTuTE trial you should speak to your treating radiation oncologist, or you may wish to complete the below enquiry form for further details.
