GenesisCare, Footscray offers access to personalised cancer care services including radiation therapy.
The GenesisCare centre in Footscray is located on the Ground floor of the Western Private Hospital, and has links to the neighbouring Western General Hospital, Western Health Sunshine Hospital, Williamstown Hospital, St. Vincent’s Private Hospital in Werribee, and Mercy Werribee Hospitals.
Our Footscray team is dedicated to offering evidence-based treatments delivered in a multidisciplinary care environment.
Patient care is managed by a team of passionate healthcare professionals with experience in oncology including: radiation oncologists, registered nurses, radiation therapists, physicists, and a dedicated team of support staff.
We aim to offer rapid access to consultation and treatment, delivered using modern radiation therapy technology.
Our treatments and services
Radiation oncology
Radiation therapy uses high energy X-rays or other particles to treat cancer and can be used at all stages. Radiation therapy techniques can include: External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT), Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR), Brachytherapy, and specialised non-surgical treatment for skin cancer.
Chemotherapy
We are able to offer access to chemotherapy services via co-location at Western Private Hospital. Chemotherapy is an approach to cancer therapy which involves the administration of medicine, usually orally or by injection, which is intended to kill cancer cells or minimise their growth and spread. Chemotherapy can be used in conjunction with other cancer treatments.
Allied health services
At GenesisCare, Footscray we are able to discuss and help refer you to a range of appropriate allied health support services. We offer access to a Prostate Cancer Care Nurse, for prostate cancer patients. We recommend speaking to your treatment team about available support services.
Free car parking is available for patients receiving treatment at our centre. You will be provided with a permit allowing you to access designated parking spaces behind our building. Alternatively, two-hour ticketed street parking is available on Eleanor and Stanlake Streets.
West Footscray station is a 1km walk along Hocking Street and Eleanor Street. Buses 220, 223 and 410 all intersect Eleanor Street, it is a 500m walk from there. The 82 tram stops at the corner of Ballarat Road and Gordon Street, it is a 1km walk from there.
