Services
GenesisCare, Rockhampton offers access to personalised cancer care services including radiation therapy to the local community.
GenesisCare, Rockhampton is located within the Rockhampton Base Hospital, on the Lower Ground Floor of the Cancer Care Services Building. Access is through the main hospital entrance or through the sliding doors to the left of the entrance to the emergency department and then using the lifts to access the Lower Ground Floor.
The team at GenesisCare, Rockhampton is passionate about offering patients evidence-based treatments delivered in a multidisciplinary care environment. Patient care is managed by a team of healthcare professionals with experience in oncology including: radiation oncologists, registered nurses, radiation therapists, physicists, and a dedicated team of support staff.
Radiation Oncology
Radiation therapy uses high energy X-rays or other particles to treat cancer and can be used at all stages. Radiation therapy techniques can include: Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR), Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT), Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and specialised non-surgical treatment for skin cancer and some benign conditions.
Allied Health Services (provided in conjunction with QLD Health):
At GenesisCare, Rockhampton we offer you access to a range of Allied health services provided by QLD Health, all tailored to support your needs. One of your treatment team will discuss the most suitable options with you. Support services offered may include:
- Occupational Therapist
- Dietitian
- Physiotherapist
- Speech Pathologist
- Breast Care Nurse
- Social Worker
- Mental Health
- Prostate Cancer Care Nurse
- Cancer Care Co-ordinator
- Lymphoedema Nurse
You will be eligible for free car parking for the duration of your radiation treatment appointments, this will be organised for you by the Rockhampton Patient Services Officers and explained on your first day of treatment. Parking in the Multi-story car park (entrances are located on Canning St and via the main Hospital driveway) will locate you in close proximity to the department entrance. Paid parking will be available for any other appointments you have within the department.
