He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancer. He is currently the lead for head and neck surgery in Oxford.
Professor Winter has a specialist interest in tumours of the head and neck, both benign and malignant. He is a recognised national expert in the treatment and management of tumours. He has written guidance for NICE and advised NHS Scotland.
He is on the board of a number of national organisations advising on the management of head and neck cancers, including – British Association of Head and Neck Oncology (BAHNO) Council, ENT UK. Head and Neck Council, National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI), Head and Neck Clinical Studies Group.
He has an active research interest and is investigator on a number of trials.
