Biopsy results in five days
If a biopsy is required, the results will be made available within five days of the biopsy at a follow-up appointment with the consultant. A copy of these results will also be shared with the patient’s GP.
All biopsy results are discussed at a GenesisCare Breast Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meeting, which includes surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and oncologists where treatment plans are discussed and appropriate action is agreed.
If no evidence of breast cancer is found, the results are discussed with the patient in detail together with any advice or reassurances. If the biopsy does show the presence of a cancer, we are able to discuss with the patient the next steps required to move towards appropriate treatment.

Our Rapid Access Head and Neck diagnostics pathway is a consultant-led, multidisciplinary and multi-modality service for the rapid assessment and treatment of patients referred from a primary care setting.
The service has been designed with leading head and neck experts to provide speed of access and ease-of-referral to comprehensive diagnostics and world-class treatment within our specialist private oncology centres. Our aim is to support our referring clinicians by providing reassurance, early detection of a more serious condition and easy access to an optimum treatment pathway.
Although head and neck cancers account for less than 5% of referred cases, they can be fast growing and so early diagnosis and treatment without unnecessary delays is paramount. Our dedicated MDT approach will improve the quality of life outcome for these patients.
Same-day imaging and rapid access to world-class head and neck cancer care
– GenesisCare
The head and neck diagnostic pathway
Symptomatic patients accessing our Rapid Access Head and Neck Service will undergo a face-to-face appointment with a consultant ENT surgeon (patients with a neck mass may be asked to have an ultrasound prior to their appointment).

- Nasopharyngoscopy (performed during consultation)
Biopsy – within 72 hours
- Ultrasound
- Ultrasound biopsy
Blood tests – including

They will agree further assessment and treatment.

- CT
- PET/CT
- Diagnostics under GA at GenesisCare partner hospital
Full results and eMDT outcome in 72 hours
Ready to treat within days
Following a cancer diagnosis and completion of all investigative procedures, treatment will be planned to start within a few days. During this time patients will be given access to our speech and language therapist and dietitian and an appropriate care plan will be put in place.
Evidence supports that higher cancer stage and worse survival is seen with longer delays, and the unfavourable oncological and emotional outcome could be devastating for patients.
As well as state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatments, we provide a solid multidisciplinary approach, with a specialist nurse, dietitian, speech and language therapist, and psychological support during treatment. This is essential to providing the most appropriate treatments without interruptions.
Although less than 5% of patients will be diagnosed with cancer, all patients referred will be offered appropriate treatment, including supporting speech and language therapy (SLT) and dietitian intervention
