The main symptoms of testicular cancer can be similar to other conditions that affect the testes.  Common signs of testicular cancer include:

• An increase in the firmness of the testis 
• Different appearance between one testis and the other

• A heavy feeling in the scrotum

• Coughing

Our consultants include expert surgeons who work in local and nationally renowned hospitals and will work together with other cancer specialists to decide the best course of treatment for you. If your consultant recommends testicular cancer surgery, this can be arranged conveniently at one of our partner hospitals. You can then continue your other treatments at GenesisCare. 

There are different procedures for testicular cancer surgery, and your surgeon will recommend the most appropriate technique depending on the location of your cancer. If your cancer has not spread outside the testis (stage 1 testicular cancer), your surgeon will remove the affected testis. This procedure is called an orchidectomy and is often the only treatment you need.

No treatment is without side effects. Your doctor will explain these to you, together with the ways your treatment plan and supportive care can help manage or minimise these.

There are different types of drug treatments, also called systemic anti-cancer therapies. Our expert teams continually review and assess new treatments to make these available to GenesisCare patients as early as possible.  

Chemotherapy for testicular cancer

Chemotherapy uses cytotoxic (anti-cancer) drugs to destroy cancer cells. Chemotherapy can be delivered on its own or in combination with radiotherapy (chemoradiation). You‘ll usually have chemotherapy after testicular cancer surgery to help prevent cancer from coming back. Chemotherapy can also be used to treat testicular cancer that has come back after initial treatment.  

Advanced cancer

If your cancer has spread to other parts of the body, it‘s called advanced or metastatic testicular cancer. Unlike other advanced cancers, advanced testicular cancer is curable. At GenesisCare, you can receive drug treatments for advanced testicular cancer.
